Margaret Elaine Gray, 75, of Moatsville, WV, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Elaine was born on July 30, 1950, in Moatsville, a daughter of the late Lincoln and Jacklyn (Rhoden) Bolyard. On May 27, 1972, she married the love of her life, Alan Jack Gray, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Beeson, and sister-in-law, Patricia Bolyard.

A 1968 graduate of Philip Barbour High School, Elaine went on to dedicate 42 years of her career to the Barbour County Board of Education, where she served as Finance and Retirement Program Administrator. Her work was marked by integrity, kindness, and a deep commitment to the staff she supported.

Elaine was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and found great joy in her quilting community as part of the Eye of the Needle Quilt Guild. She loved to sew, quilt, and cook, and her home was often filled with the warmth of her creations and the laughter of those she loved. Family meant everything to Elaine—she never missed a chance to share stories, offer encouragement, or gather everyone around the table.

Elaine  will be remembered for her gentle heart, unwavering faith, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through her family, her friendships, and the countless lives she touched.

Guestbook

  1. So sorry to hear this news! Elaine was always smiling and such a delightful person. Prayers for her family and friends during this difficult time.

  2. Jan and I are heartbroken. Elaine was a lovely person who was loved dearly by her family and friends. Prayers to Alan and family.

  3. Elaine had such a beautiful soul. She was always one of the first parishioners to greet you at Mass. She was a true “lady” of the highest caliber. Her laughter and caring demeanor will be truly missed. Sending much love and peace to Alan and the boys at this time. Until we meet again…

  4. Elaine was a beautiful kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed! May she rest in peace with the Heavenly Father! My sincere condolences to Alan and his family! 🥰🙏

  5. My thoughts and prayers go out to Alan and his family asking God to comfort them during this time of grief. Elaine was a sweetheart. She was kind to everyone and always had a smile on her face.

  6. Elaine has been a DEAR and LIFE-LONG FRIEND from childhood and my heart is heavy with sorrow because she meant so much to me. It’s hard to remember a time that we were together that she wasn’t upbeat, laughing and happy no matter the circumstances or her personal suffering. I believe it was the love she felt in her heart and was surrounded with that kept her strong, that and her faith. She & Alan made a beautiful life and family together and she cherished her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren with all her heart. I grieve with them, her brothers Mike and Andy, and all who knew and loved Elaine. She will be greatly missed but long remembered in my heart. I’m certain we will be reunited in Heaven one day. Prayers for her beloved family.

  7. So sorry to hear of Elaine’s passing. Sending thoughts, prayers and condolences to her husband, Alan and family. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for many years through our work with the school system. I’m from Tucker County and we spoke often about school issues and shared rides to our out of town meetings. Spoken often about our families. She shared so much of her expertise of her work skills. Her joy and laughter was so contagious. She will be missed! RIP my friend🙏🏻
