Donald “Donnie” Gene Parks, Sr., age 69, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born on September 3, 1956, in Philippi, the son of Olive Virginia “Jenny” Parks.

On November 15, 1998, Donnie was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Libby” Pearl (Ellis) Parks, who survives.

Donnie is also survived by his children: Donald Gene Parks, Jr.; Betty Jo Parks; Chris Eric Parks; Ronnie Gene Swiger; Zora Parks and companion James Roscoe Gum; William Donald Parks; Christina Dawn Starkey; and Jessica Dawn Ellis; along with stepchildren Jeff, Jason, and John Campbell. He was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.

He is also survived by his siblings Kenneth Parks, Mark Carper, Jack Carper, Delores Jenkins, and Iva Lewellen. He was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Marie Parks, an infant sister, and sister Dessie Jenkins.

Donnie worked as a handyman and could fix just about anything. He loved spending time outdoors—fishing, camping, and enjoying the simple things in life. He also liked watching westerns and wrestling, but his favorite times were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He’ll be remembered for his easy smile, his sense of humor, and his love for life.

Family and friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home and On-site Crematory, 220 N. Walnut Street Philippi, on Saturday November 8, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Sylvia Simmons.
