Opal Arlene Robinson, 95, of Arden, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 24, 1930, in Pleasant Creek, Opal was the daughter of the late Floyd and Hallie (Newman) Bolner. In July of 1950, she married the love of her life, Clinton Robinson, with whom she shared many devoted years of marriage until his passing on December 23, 1996.
To many in the community, Opal was fondly known as “the Flower Lady.” Her love for flowers and gardening was more than a hobby—it was a reflection of who she was. She found peace outdoors, joy in watching things grow, and happiness in sharing that beauty with others. Opal loved to read, enjoyed attending sings at the Moatsville Church, and cherished quiet moments just as much as lively family gatherings.
Above all else, Opal was a family woman. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren and especially loved caring for her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her home was a place of warmth, love, and welcome, and her gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a proud graduate of Philippi High School.
She is survived by her loving children, James H. Robinson and wife Sherie; Dolly June Weaver and her late husband Sonny Weaver; Joy Marshall and husband Greg; Rodney M. Robinson and wife Gabrielle; and Chenoweth Jay Robinson and wife Tammy.
Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren: Sharon Nuzum and husband Keith; Donald Haller and companion Debbie Talbot; Clinton Haller and companion Tiffany Martin; Russ Lipscomb; Pamela Nestor and husband Roy; Amy DeBoer and husband Bill; Mallory Weaver; Jessie Robinson; Joy Nowaczyk and husband Pat; Chloe Robinson and fiancé Addison Baugher; and Gabriel Robinson; along with three step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Opal was preceded in death by her son, Clinton Wayne Robinson; her daughter, Cathy Maxine Haller; an infant son, Chenoweth Jay Robinson; her twin sister, Maxine Jackson; and siblings Virginia “Ben” Edmond, Forest Carl Bolner, and Oren “Buss” Bolner.
The family will be receiving friends at Wright Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory, 220 N. Walnut Street, Philippi, on Wednesday, January 20, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 p.m., and on Thursday, January 21, 2026, from 9:00–11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
