Patsy Carol Bishop, 87, of Philippi, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
She was born December 2, 1938, in Bud, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Henry David Bishop and Agatha (Asbury) Bishop. On June 20, 1956, she married the love of her life, John M. Bishop.
Patsy was a devoted member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Elkton, Maryland, and attended New Beginnings Church whenever she was able. A woman of deep faith, she was known for her encouraging spirit, her ability to see the best in everyone, and her warm sense of humor.
She had a gift for making a house a home and took great pride in creating beauty around her—especially through her love of flowers, birds, and antiques, particularly Victorian and country styles. Patsy enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and reading, especially Amish stories. She was an excellent cook, cherished animals, and had a special soft spot for puppies and kittens. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her children: John Martin Bishop, Jr. and wife Maureen “Mo” Scullion; Myra Kohler and husband Bob; and Melanie Bishop. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Sherry (Nonie), Aaron (Amanda), Leah (Chris), Paige (Michael), Kaela (David), Ashton, Kenneth, Laciana, Rachel, Sam (Jaqueline), Bronwyn, and Jacob (Alexis LeDeux), along with many great-grandchildren.
The family will welcome friends at Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi, on Thursday April 16, from 3-4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kenneth Lee Stewart officiating. Patsy will be laid to rest in the WV National Cemetery.
