Charles L. Nazelrod, age 78, a resident of Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital, and a former resident of Belington, passed away Wednesday December 24, 2025. Charles was born October 9, 1947, at Camp Lejune, SC youngest son of the late Archie and Mildred (Walls) Nazelrod. Charles was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry and sister-in-law, Barbara.
Upon graduating from Philip Barbour High School in 1967, Charles enlisted in the Marine Corp and served until he was medically discharged. Upon returning to Belington, he worked for food services at Alderson Broaddus College as a baker for several years. Then worked for Dave Judy Lumber Co where he was hired as a laborer and lumber grader. Charles worked for several years as the Maintenance and Groundskeeper for Simpson Flying Service.
Charles was a member of the Philippi Lions Club and the Eastern Barbour Lions Club for several years, serving in various capacities. Charles also served on the Barbour County Fair Board and Fair Association for several years.
Surviving is a niece, Christina Nazelrod of Yuma, Arizona and close friends Barbara Allen, Bob and Dawn Goodwin, Michael Coleman, Amy Allen and Sam and Grace Haught
At Charles’ request, he was cremated and there were no services. He will be honored with a Marine Corp plaque and private memorial at Simpson Airport at a later date. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.wrightfuneralhomeservices.com
