Opal Jean Papandrea, 92, a resident of Philippi, passed away at her home on Friday, May 1, 2026.
She was born March 1, 1934, at Jacks Run in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Frank Marion Glendenning and Goldie (McDila) Glendenning Harlen.
Opal was married to Joseph “Joe” Papandrea on February 23, 1996; he preceded her in death in 2003.
She is survived by her children, Judy Williams and husband Homer, Donald Workman, and Susie Cross; grandchildren, Lodema, Marla, Wayne, and Becky; several great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Elsie Cottrill; and her beloved baby girl, Lacey. She was very fond of her caregiver, Cindy Nuzum.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Robin Cross, Calvin Workman, and Johnnie Workman; and siblings, Clarence “Buck” Glendenning and Wilda “Woody” Delauder.
Opal enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, shopping, traveling, and taking trips. She was always willing to lend a helping hand at local churches wherever she was needed and was known for her generous spirit. She was baptized in the Church of Latter-day Saints.
In following with Opal’s request cremation will be honored.
