Resided in: Buckhannon, West Virginia

Richard “Dick” Robert Gordon, age 80, a resident of Buckhannon, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at his residence.

Dick was born on July 8, 1946, in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late James Gordon and Juanita (Todd) Knight.

He was united in marriage to his loving wife of 34 years, Barbara (Phillips) Gordon, who survives. Together, they shared a life filled with love, adventure, and countless cherished memories.

Dick dedicated much of his life to serving and protecting others. He proudly served as a first responder in both Harrison and Barbour counties, with experience in emergency medical services, firefighting, and law enforcement. His commitment to helping others reflected his caring heart and willingness to answer the call whenever someone was in need. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Mountaineer Lodge #78, and was involved with the Philippi Boy Scout Troop.

Outside of his years of service, Dick had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, farming, and spending time surrounded by nature. He was an avid collector of just about everything, always finding something interesting or worth holding on to. One of his greatest joys was traveling alongside his wife, Barbara. Together, they made unforgettable memories visiting Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, and Alaska, along with numerous trips to Disney. Whether exploring a new destination or enjoying the simple pleasures of home, Dick appreciated the adventures and memories made along the way.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his four children, Carol Lea Carter of Mannington, David Gordon and wife Leslie of Mannington, Richard G. Gordon of Buckhannon, and Tyler Gordon and wife Ashley of Buckhannon; seven grandchildren, Kayla Pyles, Hanah Summerfield, Elias Gordon, Savanah Carter, Oliver Wayne Gordon, Gabriel Gordon, and Malaki Gordon; four great-grandchildren; and a granddaughter, Lillian Eden Gordon, expected to arrive in January.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Teresa Henderson and husband Terry of Philippi; and uncle, John Edens of Philippi.

Dick’s family will welcome friends at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday October 31, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Dick will be laid to rest in the Marteny Family Cemetery.
