John Strait
August 1, 1937 ~ January 21, 2010
John D."Darrel" Strait, age 72, a resident of Rt. 1 Teter Lake Community passed away Thursday January 21, 2010 in Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital. He was born August 1, 1937 in Green County Pennsylvania a son of the late John C. and Pearl A. (Weaver) Strait. He was united in marriage on September 25, 1955 to Carole Ann (Parks) Strait who survives. Also surviving is; One daughter: Cheri and husband David Bolyard of Stalnaker Rd. Philippi
One son; David and wife Melinda Strait of Stalnaker Rd. Philippi
One sister; Evelyn Jefferies of Shinnston
Mother-in-law; Pauline M. Hall of Philippi
Four grandchildren; Chris and wife Charity Bolyard, Jessica and husband James Willis, Josh and Sara Strait
Two great grandchildren; Alyssa Willis, and Ansley Bolyard
Mr. Strait was preceded in death by one brother; Kenneth Strait.
Mr. Strait retired from the Robinson Run Mines as a roof bolter and was a member of the UMWA District 31. He also gained pleasure from helping friends, neighbors, and hifamily, who were very important to him.
Mr. Strait was a member of the Central Chapel United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday January 23, from 4-8 p.m. and on Sunday January 24, from 8 a.m. -2 p.m. the service hour with Pastor Ron "Butch" Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery.
