Phillip Wagner

October 12, 1963 ~ February 5, 2015

Phillip David Wagner, age 51, a resident of Jonestown Mt. Liberty Rd. Philippi passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Camden, PA. He was born October 12, 1963 in Elkins a son of the late Russell Wagner and Mary Lou (Stalnaker) Wagner of Mt. Liberty Community. He was united in marriage on September 3, 1982 to Lori (Cochran) Wagner who survives. Also surviving One daughter; Katie Leann Wagner Cox and husband Brian of Mt. Liberty Community One son; Andrew Cordel Wagner of Mt. Liberty Community Two sisters; Twila Smith and husband Gary of Mt. Liberty Community Fran Greco of Philippi One brother; Danny Wagner of Philippi Beloved grandchildren, Brady Cordel Wagner and Bella Grayce Cox Several nieces and nephews Phil was preceded in death by one brother Jerry Del Wagner and one sister Rosemary Wagner. He worked in the coal industry for 32 years and retired as Mine Manager at Blacksville #2. He served as captain of Barbour #1 Mine Rescue Team for eight years, and currently co-owner of his own trucking business. Phil was a 1981 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. Phil loved the outdoors he enjoyed hunting, riding his 4 wheeler, and most of all spending time with his family and lifelong friends. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday February 7, from 3-9 pm and on Sunday February 8, from 8 am – 2 pm the service hour with Minister Danny Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Wagner Family Cemetery.

  18. We met Phil through work at Blacksville No. 2 mines and immediately felt as though we had known him for years. What a great person he was. When he spoke of his wife,Lori or the kids he was always very sincere. I feel blessed to have worked for and know him as a person! We extend our sincere thoughts and prayers to Lori and family at this very difficult time.
