Walter Scott Alexander

Walter Scott Alexander, age 78, a resident of Mountaineer Rd. Philippi passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 in Davis Medical Center. He was born September 11, 1939 in Moatsville a son of the late Hayes O. and Lillie Virginia (Reed) Alexander. He was united in marriage December 21, 1961 to Gloria Lucille (Marsh) Alexander who survives. Also surviving- One daughter, Gloria Lynn Triplett and husband Howard of Moatsville Five sons, Wayne Scott Alexander of Moatsville William Stacy Alexander and companion Debbie Ivey of Nestorville Walter Shane Alexander and wife Cheryl of Philippi Wesley Stuart Alexander and wife Debbie of Nestorville Waylon Steven Alexander and companion Jenny Jones of Nestorville Two sisters, Mae Weber of Moatsville Ann Wyatt and companion Gary Gribble of Fellowsville Two brothers, Arthur D. Alexander of Moatsville Chester D. Alexander and wife Carolyn of Moatsville One half-sister, Gertrude Moats of Grafton 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by one sister, Kay Wiant; two brothers, Dale and Jack Alexander Mr. Alexander was a timber cutter for Hubert Nestor Sawmill and a mechanic for WVDOH He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 5-8pm and on Tuesday, July 24th from 8am-1pm the service hour with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Cemetery at Tacy.

I remember Walter and his family well, we spent many many evenings with them while I was growing up.. sometimes at their house and sometimes at ours, my dad and Walter were very close friends and cousins…we were always treated like we were their immediate family.. and we felt very much like it too..R.I.P. Walter you will be missed dearly… I know all your kids looked up to you and respected the man that you were. Please give my other family who have gone before you hugs.

  3. Aunt Polly, Gloria Lynn, Scott, Stacy, Shane, Stuart and Steven…Uncle Walter was truly a great man. He was always good to us as kids and he never yelled at us. I always had fond memories of him growing up. We are sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you.

    Walter was a good man. He was always kind and worked hard to provide for his family. I know that there will be a special place in Heaven for him.
