Howard Gene Higgins, Sr.

Howard Gene Higgins, Sr., age 88, a resident of Flemington, passed away Thursday November 19, 2020 in the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Howard was born April 30, 1932 in Galax, VA a son of the late Ernest and Nancy Higgins. Howard was united in marriage to Eunice Velma (Pope) Higgins who precede him in death. Surviving is Three children, Howard Gene Higgins, Jr. and wife Charlotte of NC Velma Posman and husband Don of New Hampshire Grant Higgins of Flemington Brother, June Higgins Several nieces and nephews Seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren Howard was preceded in death by son Rudy Higgins, sister, Ernestine Merchant, brothers, William and LeRoy Higgins Howard worked as a truck driver for Tom Greathouse Trucking. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his shop. He attended the Rising Star Baptist Church in Galloway. Friend will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday November 24, from 5-8 pm and on Wednesday November 25, from 11 am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm. Interment will follow in the Negro Cemetery at Brownton.
