Gloria "Polly" Lucille Alexander

Gloria Lucille “Polly” Alexander, age 75, a resident of Philippi, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 9, 2020 at her residence. Polly was born June 22, 1944 in Barbour Co. a daughter of Delbert and Elsie May (Gribble) Marsh. Polly was united in marriage on December 21, 1961 to Walter Scott Alexander who preceded her in death on July 21, 2018. Surviving is- Daughter, Gloria Lynn Triplett and husband Howard of Moatsville Sons, Wayne Scott Alexander of Moatsville William Stacy Alexander and companion Debbie Ivey of Nestorville Walter Shane Alexander and wife Cheryl of Philippi Wesley Stuart Alexander and wife Debbie of Nestorville Waylon Steven Alexander and companion Jenny Jones of Nestorville Sisters, Peggy Moore and husband Jim of Grafton Bernita Rutherford and husband Glen of Elkins Brothers, Donald Marsh and wife Rebecca of Philippi Todd Marsh and wife Rosanne of Morgantown 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren Polly was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy Marsh, Charles Marsh, and Ted Marsh Polly worked for seven years for Kingford’s Charcoal Plant as a fork truck operator, several years for Reidbord Brothers as a seamstress and retired with 18 years of service from Barbour County Good Samaritan as a Dietary Aide. Polly enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid quilter, she was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was loved and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be private and interment will be in the Crossroads Cemetery at Tacy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi, WV 26416 to help with funeral cost.

  1. I met Polly when I work as a volunteer at good sams, in the activity room.i would go to lunch and, most of the time she would wait on me. she was a very nice person to be around.

  2. Polly was a wonderful woman, we loved her from the first time we met her. She had a big heart she will be sadly missed . She will always be in the hearts of all who knew her.

  5. When I first met that beautiful lady, I was camping with Debbie and Stuart and I called her a name that she and I joked about for the next 16 years! I loved her like she was my own momma. I’m gonna miss you sweetheart… you rest now in the arms of the lord ♥️

    I don't know how it feels to lose a mother but, I do a father. Now you've gone through the loss of both. I'm so, so sorry for your loss.
    With this pandemic you can't even have the shoulders to cry on or the hugs from so many friends and family. I'm sending you all many hugs and tears..
    Just know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers.
    We all await the time when we'll see the promise that God holds out to us. Rev. 21: 3, 4 tells us that there will be a time in the near future when there will be no more pain or death.
    Once again I'm so sorry for the loss of your Mom… hugs and tears…
