John Shroyer Pitzer, Sr. age 85 a resident of Rt. 1 Thornton passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012 in Grafton City Hospital. He was born May 29, 1926 in Grafton, WV a son of the late John Pitzer and Hazel (Shroyer) Pitzer. He was united in marriage September 25, 1957 to Sylvia Mae (Shipp) Pitzer who survives. Also surviving are,
two sons, John Pitzer, Jr. and wife Bonnie, Mt. Morris Rd. Thornton
James Pitzer and wife Patty of Grafton
Three grandchildren, April, Jason and Dana Pitzer
One step-grandson, Frankie Moore
Three great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren
Mr. Pitzer was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Duffitt
He was a truck driver for Trickett Trucking and an avid farmer
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of Mt. Morris United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday, February 20 from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday February 21 from 8 am-1 pm the service hour with Rev. Jimmie Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Morris Cemetery with military honours being accorded.
