Velma Rose Marsh

Velma Rosalie “Rose” Marsh, age 86, a resident of Philippi, passed away Thursday May 14, 2020 in Davis Medical Center. Rose was born January 12, 1934 in Barbour Co. a daughter of the late Chester and Nora (Auvil) Poling. Rose was united in marriage on July 10, 1951 to Arthur Wellington “Shady” Marsh who preceded her in death on July 5, 2019. Also surviving- Three Children, Sandra Kaye Kines and husband Larry of Tacy Donna Jo Baxter and husband Lewis Jr. of Nestorville Thomas Wesley Marsh of Nestorville Seven Grandchildren- Brandy Michelle Bond and husband Dan of Vienna, WV; Jessica Marie Parker and husband Chris of South Charleston; Lewis Quay Baxter III and Paige Lansky of NC; USMCR Major Steven Arthur Baxter of Las Vegas; Michael Seth Baxter of GA; Matthew Thomas Baxter of GA; and Army Specialist Noah Thomas Marsh of Nestorville Six Great-Granchildren- Dylan Michael Bond; Brenna Nicole Bond, Brylee Kate Bond, Charlotte Mae Parker, Nolan Christopher Parker and Cypress Quay Baxter Six siblings, Leota O’Neal of Valley Furnace, James Poling of Tacy, Pauline Price, Patsy Bolyard, Joan Bolyard, and Faye Haddix all of White Oak community Rose was preceded in death by sister, Esta Howdershelt, and brother Kenneth Poling Rose was a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and loved her family, she attended New Beginnings Church where she was a devoted Christian and very active in church. A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 16, at 3 pm at Central Chapel Cemetery.
