Irvin Carl Evans, II

Irvin Carl Evans II, age 61, a resident of Indian Fork Rd. Philippi, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 24, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Carl was born July 27, 1956 in Philippi a son of the late Irvin Carl “Choke” Evans and Kathryn (O’Neal) Evans Hall. Carl was united in marriage on December 1, 1979 to Pat (Nestor) Evans who survives at home. Also surviving- Brother-in-law, Cecil “Sonny” Nestor and wife Jeanne Iaquinta Castle Nestor of Nestorville Sister-in-law, Joy (Nestor) Kelley of Nestorville Nephew, Michael David Nestor of NC Niece, Michelle Lee (Nestor) Lipps of Philippi Carl was preceded in death by sister-in-law Helen (Nestor) Shaffer and brother-in-law, Gene Nestor Carl was a volunteer at the Barbour County Emergency Squad for a number of years. He was deputy sheriff for the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office for approximately 11 years. Later he was the owner and operator of Evans Electronics for 10 years. He retired as an Electronics Tech II for the Troop 3 Elkins Detachment of the WV State Police, and currently was employed with the Randolph County Office of Emergency Management. Carl was a Methodist by faith. He was 1974 graduate Philip Barbour High School, and attended Fairmont State College. Carl loved the beach, he enjoyed watching Nascar and the old westerns he enjoyed working outdoors maintaining his property on Indian Fork, and loved helping his neighbors. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday June 27, from 3-8 pm and on Thursday June 28, from 8 am – 12 pm the service hour with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Interment will follow in the Criss Cemetery.

  8. I was saddened to hear of Carl's passing. Being classmates and freshmen roommates in college, it hit especially hard. I have a lot of fond memories of Carl. My condolences to Pat.

  9. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Carl's passing. He was a wonderful land lord, and we enjoyed being his renters. He was just a nice guy.

  10. Patty and family. I'm truley sorry for for the loss of your husband and friend. I remember Carl from the time we were little going to church at Crim, and Vacation Bible School. I wil not be able to come to the funeral home. I'm at my daughters in NV and will be flying home Thursday. You are in my prayers. I'm so sorry.

  11. I am so sorry for your loss, Patty and family. My brother Patrick and I always loved a trip out to see Mr. Carl with our dad, Tom. It was always good to see a familiar face as well when we visited dad at the courthouse. The good deputy always welcomed us in with a smile and a cold glass bottle of Coke. An incredibly nice man was Mr. Carl and I am sure that he is still that wonderful person in a much better place. Our family is praying for you all during this troubling time, but please know that God and Carl are right there with you. May God bless you all.
