Junior Golden

Junior Lee Golden, age 70, formerly of Morgantown, WV passed away on May 27, 2013 at his home in Mt. Liberty. Junior was born September 20, 1942 in Philippi he was the son of the late Lewie and Luvada (Foster) Golden of Union. He owned and operated coal mines for 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a deacon of Union Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winter and camping. He especially enjoyed time with his family. He is survived by his lovely wife of 50 years Dorothy (Booth) Golden, his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce (Golden) and Jimmy Gandy, son Gregory Golden all of Morgantown, and daughter Cheri (Golden) Reed of Elkins. Also grandchildren, Trent and wife Misty Speicher, Joshua and wife Blair Speicher, Christopher Golden, NeCole and husband Steven Gauntt all of Marion County, Garrett and Hunter Golden of Morgantown, Megan Lewis and Cory Reed of Elkins, six great grandchildren. His siblings Gary and wife Janet Golden, Gert and husband Bob McDonald, Mike and wife Cheryl Golden, all of Philippi, Dot Lou Golden of Harrisburg, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents Lewie and Luvada Golden, two sisters, and four brothers. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday May 29, from 11am- 2 pm and 4- 8 pm. He will be moved on Thursday May 30, to the Union Church of Christ to lie in state from 9-11 am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Evangelist Vernon Teagarden officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Liberty Cemetery.

  9. Junior was a cousin of mine and a brother in Christ. He fought a good fight against the worst disease “cancer” and won for many years. Junior may you rest in peace and God be with you. Our sympathy to Dottie who is a special and lovely Christian.

Something that has always given me comfort is a scripture at Revelation 21:4, it says, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” I sincerely hope this brings you some comfort.

  15. Junior and Dottie were great friends and Christians in the Mt. Liberty Community. Dottie I am sorry I am not able to attend the funeral services due to poor health issues but please know you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers.
