Richard Crayton Corder

December 28, 1941 ~ October 15, 2018

Richard “Dick” Crayton Corder, Sr., age 76, a resident of Flemington, passed away unexpectedly on Monday October 15, 2018 in Broaddus Hospital. Dick was born December 28, 1941 in Philippi a son of the late James Benton and Claribel (Skidmore) Corder. He was united in marriage on November 6, 1965 to Wanda M (Murphy) who survives at home. Also surviving Four children, Richard Corder Jr. of Philippi Jimmy Corder of Broadway, VA Randy Corder and wife Conya of Philippi Crystal Corder of Flemington Three sisters, Joan Tate of Bridgeport Gale Sanders of Clarksburg June Wolverton and husband Jack of Grafton Two brothers, James Corder of Worthington Pete Corder and wife Janette of Galloway Seven grandchildren, Zach, Lauren, Dakota, Josh, Logan, Tanner Corder, and Olivia Lewis Four great grandchildren, Parker, Conner, Kaidyn Corder, Paislee Farris Dick was preceded in death by Brother Glen Corder, and Sister Juanita Hannigan Dick was a Heavy Equipment Operator for King Knob Coal, and was owner/operator of Corder’s Grocery. He served in the US Army, Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. He never met a stranger and enjoyed telling stories. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday October 17, from 3-8 pm and on Thursday October 18, from 8am- 1 pm the service hour with Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Pt. Pleasant Cemetery with full military honors being accorded.

  9. I am glad that I really got to know my relative and neighbor since moving to the farm 10 years ago. He helped me greatly with our house and land, always having good ideas and advice. He was always there for me with anything I needed. I enjoyed him coming over to chat and share a funny story when I was out in the yard. He was always fun and never had a down moment. It’s hard to imagine what it will now be like without him. I am so sorry for Wanda and the family.

  10. Treasured memories of Dick and Wanda. Dick was such a happy soul. Our hearts and thoughts and deepest prayers go with them all. Wonderful man, great family man that loved spending time being together with each of them. Never met a stranger and he will be so missed.
