Holty Bennett

August 19, 1944 ~ January 30, 2014

Holty Grayson Bennett, Jr. age 69 a resident of Clemtown, departed this life on Thursday January 30, 2014 at Mon General Hospital. He was born on August 19, 1944 a son of the late Holty, Sr. and Delma (Freeman) Bennett. On November 9, 1970 he married Sharon Duckworth who survives at home. He also survived by two sons: Jesse Arthur Duckworth and wife Alicia of Moatsville, William Glenn Duckworth and wife Vickie of Clemtown Two daughters: Katina Lulane Hunt and husband Eric of Moatsville Amelia (Amy) Marlena Bennett of Clemtown and companion Brian Ball Nine grandchildren: Michelle, Adam, and Kyle Duckworth, Erica Cunningham, Raven Haddix, Anthony, Morgan, and Shelly Hunt, and Scott Ball. Five sisters: LeVada Newlon, Patty Taylor, Dottie Mouser, Connie Nethken, and Dortha Freeman Five brothers: Bille, Larry, Freddie, Eddie and Tommy Bennett He was preceded in death by one infant brother and one infant sister. Grayson was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the US Army from August 1965 to May 1967. Upon returning home he worked for Peoples Railroad, Kingsford Charcoal, Miller Pipeline, Nestor Lumber, Sugar Creek Children’s Home, and Elkins Mountain School, retiring in 2007. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with family. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday February 1, from 4-8 pm and on Sunday February 2, from 8 am – 2 pm the service hour. Interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery with military honours being accorded.

    Holty use to live just down the road from my Grandparents, My brother & I use to go there & play, & of course he & my husband Danny use to play together.
