Orwin Lee Swiger

Orwin Lee Swiger, age 76, a resident of Philippi, passed away Friday June 14, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Lee was born December 29, 1942 in Philippi a son of the late AI and Valerie (Bramer) Swiger. Lee was united in marriage on December 9, 1959 to Shirley Jean (Talkington) Swiger who survives at home. Lee was a loving father to six children- Jeff Swiger and wife Kim of Philippi Cindy Martin and husband Tom of Philippi Scott Swiger and wife Jackie of Grafton Connie Hewitt and husband Pat of VA Bill Swiger and wife Buffy of Bridgeport Lori Thomas and husband Chad of Bridgeport Lee is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth Eugene Swiger and Michael AI Swiger both of Grafton Sister, Virginia Vindiola of Kansas 12 grandchildren, Amy Rice and husband Shad of Buckhannon, Jamie Swiger of GA, Travis Martin and wife Lori of Philippi, Tyra Martin of Philippi, Brittany and Trevor Swiger of Grafton, Kasey and Hunter Williams of Virginia, Cody and Chelsea Swiger of Bridgeport, and Jordan and Jalen Miller of Bridgeport Seven great grandchildren, Lily Rice of Buckhannon, Wyatt and Landon Philips of Grafton, Kinsey, Kadience and Trey Brown of Virginia, and Anniston Swiger of Bridgeport Lee was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Stuart, Lucille England, and Shirley Coffman, three brothers, Argyle, Dale, and Ray Swiger. Lee was employed by C.W. Coal for over 20 years, he was a coal miner and worked in the timber business for years. Lee was also an avid farmer and horseman, which brought his family together and made countless memories. Lee never missed a hay season, he spent days upon days making sure the hay was put up before next rain fall. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Sunday June 16, from 12- 8 pm and on Monday June 17, from 8 am- 1 pm the service hour. Interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery.

  5. Praying for my family and sorry for everyone's lose. My mom loved her uncle Lee so much. He was so kind and sweet I try to take my mom every chance I got to visit her uncle Lee and Anut Shirley. I even remember goin there to there house when I was a little girl I always loved there horses. If anyone needs anything I'm just a phone call away. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
