Lewis "Louie" Colen Ball

Lewis “Louie” Colen Ball, age 88, a resident of Mansfield Addition of Philippi, passed away Monday January 24, 2022 in Davis Medical Center. Louie was born March 1, 1933 in Brushy Mount, NC, a son of the late John and Laura (Marlow) Ball. Louie was united in marriage on June of 1951 to Joelyn (Graves) Ball who preceded him in death May 24, 2012. Surviving is Daughter, Brenda Lantz of Belington Daughter-in-law, Kathy Ball of Tacy Community Grandchildren, Derrick Lantz of Columbia MD Chastity and Sam Johnson of Walton, WV Heather and Roy Payne of Moatsville Eddie Parsons of Clarksburg Great grandchildren, Taylor Lantz, Blake Lantz and Grayson Click, Hunter Payne and fiancé Adrianna Christopher, Zack Payne and Emily Payne, Kaetie and Abbie Johnson Companion, Norma Shay, of Ohio Close friends, Jason Steerman, and Danny Lips Louie was preceded in death by son Tony Ball, son-in-law’s Randy Lantz, and Gary Mills, Great granddaughter, Tawny Johnson. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and late foreman on local strip job coal mines. He was a GWRRA member with ½ million miles rode on a motorcycles. He also enjoyed playing music. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday January 28, from 6-8 pm and on Saturday January 29, from 8-11am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am with Rev. Ezik Norris officiating. Interment will follow in the Philippi Masonic Cemetery.

  1. We will miss Louie he was a great uncle a great story teller and always a barrel of fun and could make you laugh we have a lot of great fun and late night fun we loved his songs We love you all and would be with you all if weather permits do remember all the good memories. Love to all

    I will greatly miss your dad/grandpa. Uncle Lewis was such a good, kind man with a great sense of humor! He made everybody feel special and loved! I love him very much. This is the end of an era of the 11 Ball siblings, each left a great legacy!♥️ May Heavenly Father bring you peace and comfort. Prayers, love and hugs!

  3. What a sad time for all of his motorcycle friends. Always enjoyed Lewis and his wife In our fun activities. He always had something good to say about other people. You will be missed my friend.

  4. My condolences to Brenda. Jason and all the family. Lou and I were friends for 50 years and have ridden many miles together over the years
    I know he loved you all!
    We also played music together for many years at Century Community Center on Friday nights.
    I miss Lou and Jodie . They were great people and what an honor to share their lives together with all of us. RIP

    He will be missed.
    He loves his music and motorcycle. I remember him coming out to the church in Mansfield playing his guitar and singing many years ago.
    I will miss him talking to me at Walmart.
    You all have lots of great memories.

  6. I worked at Ken's Discount in the mid-90s and Mr. Ball would often stop in while out for a motorcycle ride. He was friendly and always had something pleasant to say. I enjoyed our conversations about motorcycles and about what was happening in Barbour County at the time. My condolences to all of his family members.
