Wanda Elaine Mouser

Wanda Elaine Mouser, age 82, a resident of Philippi, passed away Sunday March 7, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Wanda was born October 18, 1938 in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Kelsel Valentine and Hattie Sarah (Wilson) Davis. Wanda was united in marriage on July 3, 1958 to Kenneth Mouser who survives at home. Also surviving is Daughter, Dianna Phillips and husband Bryan of Philippi Grandchildren, Mary E. Nice of Beckley, and Richard Carl Phillips of Jacksonville, NC Seven great-grandchildren Niece, Becky Crites of Buckhannon Nephews, Bill Harvey and wife Kathy of Hildebran, NC, and Bob Harvey and wife Sally of Winfield, WV Several cousins Wanda was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Cora Ellen Harvey and Keith Harvey. Wanda had worked at Kines Motor for one year, and retired from the Barbour County Clerk’s Office with 30 years of service. Wanda was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church for 55 years, she served as Secretary and Treasurer and sung in the Church Choir. Wanda had also sung with The Gospel Echos. She was a wonderful great Christian wife and mother who will be missed by everyone who knew her. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday March 12, from 5-8 pm and on Saturday March 13, from 8 am- 2pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Due to the Governor’s Mandate face masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services.

  1. When I WAS LITTLE I STAYED WITH MY UNCLE GERALD AND WINNIE POSTEN THAT LIVED STRAIGHT ACROSS THE ROAD FROM WANDA'S PARENTS. THEY WERE GREAT PEOPLE. WANDA WAS A GREAT LADY SHE WILL BE MISSED!

  2. Wanda was such a kind and caring person. A true friend and a blessing to work with during my years at the courthouse. She earned her wings many times over. Her beautiful voice now joins the angel choir. She is greatly missed.

  3. Wanda was a member of my Mt. Vernon Church family. Her beautiful smile, her kind words, her gentle soul will definitely be missed by us all. I feel blessed to have been her friend.
