Walter Benjamin Summerfield

Walter Benjamin Summerfield, age 78, a resident of Good Samaritan Society of Barbour County, and a former resident of Frost Run Rd. Moatsville, passed away Monday June 24, 2019. Walter was born November 18, 1940 in Tucker Co. a son of the late Odis Riley and Bessie Ellen (Long) Summerfield. Surviving is- Children, Kim Long and husband, Howard of Philippi Cindy Burkhalter and husband Lonnie of Canton, OH Tiffany Evans Summerfield Son, Edward Summerfield and wife Mary of Louisville, OH Brothers, Lonnie and Doyle Summerfield Sisters, Rachel Gragg and Ruby Kisamore Grandchildren, Destini Ramsey and husband Josh, Michael, Eric, Breana, Elijah, Brianna and Brian Evans Step-grandchildren, Zachary, Erick, Joshua, Latoria, Chloe, Orah Great-grandchildren, Isaac Benjamin, and two additional great-grandchildren Walter was preceded in death by his companion of 20 years plus Rebecca Joan Newman, Son, Eric Summerfield, brothers, Jack, Roger, Golden, Charlie, Carl Summerfield and infant brother Otis, sisters, Barbara Jean Steel, Alberta Frederick, Freddie Triplett and Flora Jones Walter worked varies jobs in OH, PA and WV. He liked to deer hunt when he was able, he enjoyed gardening and tending to his chickens and loved his dog Trixie. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday June 29, from 11 am – 1 pm the service hour with Pastor Ruston Seaman officiating. Interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery.
