Milton Corley

Milton Calvin "Bud" Corley, age 82 a resident of Rt. 1 Union Community Philippi passed away Wednesday June 9, 2010 in the United Hospital Center. He was born February 2, 1928 in Junior, WV a son of the late Vern L. and Ica (Bennett) Corley. He was united in marriage May 21, 1946 in Philippi to Shirley May (Daugherty) Corley who preceded him in death on April 11, 2009 Surviving are; Four daughters: Kathern Sterchak and husband Dan of Minden, NV Patricia Shafer and husband Ken of Cortland, OH Helma Ward of Las Vegas, NV Marcia Armstrong and husband Ted of Leavittsburg, OH Three brothers: Robert Corley and wife Nina of Belington Larry Corley and wife Sharon of Philippi Willis Corley and wife Aggie of Denton, KY Five sisters: Carol Holbert and husband Herbert Mavis Thompson Karen Ketchem and husband Tom all of Philippi Connie Metheny and husband Robert of Millboro, VA Marian Moore and husband Ronald of Worthington Two sister-in-laws: Carmen Corley Mary Corley both of Philippi nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by three brothers; Ernest, Vern Jr., and Richard Corley, two sisters; Mary Margaret Waller, Hilma Jean Corley and son-in-law Mark Ward. Bud was a 1946 graduate of Philippi High School, he served in the US Navy during 1946-48. He moved to Ohio in 1951 and worked at Mullens Republic Steel as bookkeeper and later transferred back to WV in 1976 to Kit Energy. Bud was a member of the Bazetta Christian Church in OH, and the Union Church of Christ. He was a longtime treasurer of the Union Senior Citizens, a member of the Bee Keepers Association, and the Ty-Hannon Sportsman's Club. Bud enjoyed miniature trains, he also volunteer at Adaland Mansion, and was an avid WVU Mountaineer Fan. Mr. Corley's request for cremation will be honored. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the Union Senior Citizens c/o of Karen Ketchem Rt. 1 Box 287 B Philippi, WV 26416 The family will hold a Celebration of Life at the Union Community Building on Friday June 11, beginning at 2 p.m.
