Mary Gordon

Mary Gordon, age 94, a resident of Care Haven of Pleasants in Belmont, WV and a former resident of S. Main St. Philippi, passed away Saturday May 26, 2018. Mary was born March 14, 1924 in St. George, WV a daughter of the late Worley and Eva (Metz) Parsons. Mary was united in marriage on December 15, 1945 to Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Gordon who preceded her in death on May 27, 2005. Surviving are- Daughters, Carol Carder and husband Bill Nancy Everson and husband Jon Christie Allen and husband Jeff Grandchildren, Melissa Carder, Cyndi Mote Rasic, Jason (Jocelyn) Everson, Sarah Everson (Scott) Mouser, Jennifer Everson (Rob) Garis, Marcie Allen (Shane) Prettyman, Andrea Carder (Andy) Brugnoli, Macall Allen (Kevin) Speaker, and Bradley Allen Great-grandchildren, Bethany and Blakelyn Mote, Sam, David and Benjamin Ervin, Liya and Mary Elizabeth Everson, Cole, Kenleigh, Kate and Cree Prettyman, Leo Brugnoli, Sloane Speaker and Eli and Valerie Garis. Mary was preceded in death by sister, Maragret Halfin, brothers, James and John Parsons. Mary was a homemaker, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #41, and a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Philippi. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday May 29, from 5-8 pm and on Wednesday May 30 from 8-11am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Chaplain Jason Everson, and Pastor Kay Larsen officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Southern Baptist Church of Philippi, PO Box 414 Philippi, WV 26416.
