Juanita Hunt

Juanita “Sis” Hunt, age 73, a resident of Mansfield Place Philippi passed away Sunday April 12, 2015. She was born September 7, 1941 in Barbour County a daughter of the late Willis “Grump” and Delores (Thompson) Sandy. Sis was united in marriage on July 1, 1966 to Harold Franklin “Frank” Hunt who preceded her in death July 31, 2013. Surviving are Three daughters, Debra Cogar and husband Roy of Williamstown Pam Wright and husband Kevin Kelli Emfinger and husband Travis both of Volga Brother, Eugene “Bub” Sandy and wife Jean of Ohio Sister-in-law, Patty Sandy Rowan and husband John of Philippi Uncle, Robert “Bob” Sandy and wife Delores of Belington Several nieces and nephews 10 grandchildren; Harold Westfall and wife Kim, Dallas Westfall, Brandon Cogar and Brei, Bethany Cogar, Robbie Cogar, Zachary Wright and wife Brook, Taylor Wright and wife Megan, Brittany Kelly and husband Adam, Cody Lindsey and Taylor, Logan Lindsey 11 great grandchildren; Dylan, Conner, Brayden, Landon Westfall, Madison Cutright, Addison Cogar Shalynn and Paisley Wright, Chandler Lindsey, Blake and Paige Kelly. Sis was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Sandy. Sis was a homemaker and a in home care provider, she was a member of the Queens Chapel United Methodist Church. Sis enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday April 14, from 3-8 pm and on Wednesday April 15, from 8 am – 2 pm the service hour with Rev. Randy Simms officiating. Interment will follow in the Hunt Memorial Cemetery.

  1. I have so enjoyed getting to know Sis, she was always so kind and we had such a good tme at New Years. I will never forget her. She left a mark on my heart. I loved her.

So sorry for the loss of your loved one, she was a wonderful lady, always doing for everyone, plus always taking care of her grandchildren, cooking, cleaning, plus working a job, now she was a worker, and a wonderful cook, and we loved her very much, we pray God will b with all of u in the days, weeks, and months ahead, it will b rough i know i have lost both of mine, it is just something u never forget especially the holidays, so i pray God will b with all of u to comfort and guide u, we love u all.

  5. I remember Sis well. My dad worked with her brother Paul in the mines. I spent a lot of time at the Sandy home. From the Page family now living in North Carolina, our deepest sympathy is sent to the family during this time of sadness.

  7. It was an honor and a pleasure to help take care of Sis at Broaddus Hospital Acute Care and Mansfield Place. My condolences to her family and friends. I know she will be greatly missed.
