Jeanne E. Poling, age 85, a resident of Beech Ave., Philippi passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Davis Memorial Hospital. She was born November 29, 1924, at New Albany, Indiana, a daughter of the late Frank and Susan (Habermel) Stemm. She was united in marriage January 3, 1945 to Herman Poling, Jr. who preceded her in death June 9, 1997.

One daughter,Candace Lee and husband Sesario Jacques, Philippi
One Son,William F. "Bucky" and wife Mary Poling, Moatsville
One sister-in-law, Juanita "Pegg" Proudfoot of Philippi
Four grandchildren; Flora Jeanne and husband Chris Phillips, William F. Jr. and wife Leckta Poling; Matthew and wife Dawn Jacques, Edward Len and wife Sara M. Poling.
Eight great-grandchildren; Logan Phillips, Brittany Jacques, William Nathaniel, Emma, Audrey, Ashley, Gage and Chandler Poling.
Mrs. Poling was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one sister, Clara Sieviking and three brothers, William, Robert, and Dr. Wilson Stemm and one niece, Marilyn Meckel, brother-in-law Bertsel Proudfoot
Mrs. Poling was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She worked for the Indiana Telephone Co., at Kroger's and A & P in Philippi as a cashier, and was owner of Green Acres Tack & Western Store.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. with a vigil service held at 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday March 3, 2010 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. the service hour with Fr. Jim O'Connor . Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Poling was for years a faithful contributor to the St. Jude Children's Research, therefore the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Bucky, so sorry to hear about your mom. Both Eric and I have many fond memories of going to her shop and browsing and she would help you find just what you needed. If she didn't have it should would get if for you.
