" Rest in Heavenly Peace Barbara " My Thoughts & Prayers are with her family and also Dr.Donald Smith too.. I had the pleasure of having her to sign her book that she wrote a few years back at the Library in Philippi, Dr Barbara Smith was a avid recycler and would stop by the Barbour County Recycling center back in the mid 2007 thru 2011 when I worked up there..

Barbara was a generous friend to me and many others. She was known for caring for her family, her friends, and her wide community. She was true to her values and a giver in the best sense of the word.

Dr. Smith was a true inspiration and model of humility. I was a long way from home when I attended AB and I would often be inspired by her presence during volleyball games when she sat up in the stands and cheered us on. She and Don made me feel at home and introduced me to Klondike bars, car races and some of the best auctions in surrounding counties. She was a silent mom to me while I experienced the wilds of WV and gave me a safe place to learn about authors in Appalachia and poets from the hills. My deepest condolences to Jean, Kari, David and families. To Don, who kept me laughing as I learned to love to the mountains and their history! Gods Peace surround you in this time of celebration. She is home. Romans 15:13

I met Barbara while working for the local senior center. She always had a smile and words of encouragement. Because of her generosity many years ago, I was given the chance to become a nurse. I will never forget what her and Miss Emily did for me. Prayers of comfort and peace for her family.
