Nancy Ellen (Wright) McDaniel, age 75, went to her heavenly home following a lengthy battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. She was surrounded by her family and loving husband, Ira David.
Nancy was born on February 21, 1945 in Moastville, WV to Jennings and Maudie (Isner) Wright. She married the love of her life, Ira on December 31, 1961 and just recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. From this union, three children were born, a girl Latreena and two sons Ronald and Brian. Together, Nancy and Ira, spent most of their years on the family farm in the Ford Run community just outside of Philippi.
Nancy was active with the Philippi Cancer Support Group, Tacy Community Association, Barbour County Farm Bureau and actively participated with Ira in the Philippi Lions Club. She enjoyed gardening and canning and preserving the harvest. Nancy was known for her delicious cooking and especially well known for her peanut butter fudge. She delighted in the role as farm wife especially preparing meals for workhands. In her earlier years, Nancy could often be found helping with the farm chores and in the fields beside her husband. Even in the winter months she would trek the hills to ensure the cattle were fed and watered. One of her greatest joys was her seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild who all lovingly referred to her as “Nana.”
Nancy is survived by her husband Ira, Philippi; two sons, Ronald (Carol), Philippi; Brian (Deanna), Rapid City, SD; four brothers, Duane (Joann), Wrightsville, NJ; Walter, Philippi, WV; Sam (Kenna), Philippi, WV; Burlin (Kathy) of Parsons, WV; and Thomas, Belington, WV.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Jennings Wright and Maudie (Isner) Wright; daughter Latreena and great-grandsons Kelly and Tony Jr. McDaniel.

It’s and family. We are so sorry to hear of Nancy’s passing. Our visits while you checked on the bees will be greatly missed! She was a loving friend who truly cared. Much love to you all. Jeff and Lisa Sickler
My love and prayers for comfort, strength, and peace at this difficult time. That peanut butter fudge was delicious that Nancy made!! It seems like only yesterday I remember the time Uncle Ira brought Nancy to grandma and grandpa’s house while my mom and dad were visiting them. I remember her little nervous laugh. At times, it seems like only yesterday and it’s strange what you remember.
Ira, boys and brothers so very sorry to hear about Nancy. I loved her and her Momma Maude. My husband and I are so afraid of getting this virus that we won't be at the viewing but our prayers will be with you all. God Bless!
My sympathy to Nancy's family during this time of sadness. I called her my friend.
