Mary Katherine Reed

Mary Katherine (Cain) Reed, age 93, a resident of Flemington, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at the home of her daughter.

She was born October 10, 1928 in Quiet Dell, WV, a daughter of the late Leonidas and Rebecca (Adams) Cain.

Mary was united in marriage on July 23, 1948 to George William Reed, Jr. who preceded her in death.ย  Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Farris of Philippi; grandchildren, Kay and Jody Arbogast, Anissa and Tim Davis, Amy and Jerry Bray, Krissy and John

Moran, Sara and Brandon Beaty, and Jeremy Farris; 20 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Orville Cain;

and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and also son Leonidas Reed; grandson, Jason Reed; great-grandson, Derrek Davis; son-in-law, Raymond โ€œBusterโ€ Farris; sisters, Violet Wilson, Mildred Propst, Geneive Costello, Eva Stout, Laverne Flanagan, and Rosie Cain; brothers, Edward and James Cain.

Mary was a homemaker.

She enjoyed working word games, quilting, and reading, and she was an avid gardener in her younger years, Most of all she loved spending time with her family.ย  Mary was a member of the Gospel Barn.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory, 220 N. Walnut St., Philippi on Friday, June 10, from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 11, from 8-11 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Pastor Scott Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery.

My hubby David Sinsel and I use to walk cross the hill from Brushy Fork to Stone Coat t o church and uncle George and Aunt Mary aways had us to stop on our way home and have some carke or good pie to share before heading back across the hill to home. Aunt Mary never had much to say, she was a quiet Lady with such a warm smile. Truth be told she probably couldn’t get a word in cuz uncle George like to talk. Those were the good ole days. R. I. P. Aunt Mary you were loved by all that knew you and will be missed by your family and friends. ๐Ÿ’—๐ŸŒน

  2. RIP my lovely Aunt Mary..I love you so much and you will never be forgotten. My sisters and I will always remember the days and nights we spent with you in StoneCoal. You were always our go to person for everything whether it was advice or just a hug. You have deserved your wings so go enjoy with all your family, they have waited a long time. Watch over all of us down here please.
