Ernest Lee Gould, age 77, a resident of Philippi, passed away Sunday July 24, 2022 in United Hospital Center. Ernest was born August 26, 1944 in Clarksburg, WV a son of the late Thomas and Bonnie (Knight) Gould. Ernest was twice married first in 1969 to Barbara (Brown) Gould who preceded him in death and second on August 28, 2010 to Arletta (Upton) Gould who survives. Also surviving is son, Jeff Gould and wife Sherry of Galloway, step children, Tiffany Sinsel and companion Rod Wallace of Dover, OH, Erik Sinsel of Morgantown, grandchildren, Ronan Gould of Galloway, Haley Sinsel-Wallace and Alexa Sinsel-Wallace of Dover, OH, sister Martha Gould of Galloway. Ernest was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Edward, and Paul Gould, two sisters, Oma and Virginia Gould.
Mr. Gould worked for Barbour County Sheriff’s department as a deputy, and also as a correctional officer. He served in the US Army.
Mr. Gould enjoyed doing carpentry work and woodworking, he was a former member of the VFW, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on August 6, 2022 at 10 am at Pt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Tammy Phillips officiating.
