  1. Pat was a loving person and wonderful teacher. I had her as my 5th grade teacher many years ago and have retained several fond memories of that year in her class. My deepest condolences to her family.

  2. I was so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. She was not only a wonderful teacher who touched thousands of lives, but she was also a peach of a person. When we were still allowed to pick and call our own subs I always called Pat to sub for me in my classroom. I knew my students would get top notch instruction and also get the love and care they deserved. She taught with the same joy and enthusiasm with which she lived her life. Pat was always happy and smiling and treated everyone with kindness. On the last day she subbed for me she gave me a copy of the book she wrote about her life and teaching in a one room school house. She signed it and wrote me a note about friendship and thanked me for letting her sub in my classroom. I will cherish that book and note forever. It is I that am thankful that she subbed in my classroom and it is I that am thankful that our paths crossed and I can call her my friend.

  3. Praying for Mrs. True’s family. I loved Mrs. True. She was my 6th grade ENGLISH teacher. I still know proper sentence structure because of her. I can still hear say “Now interrogative is a question. Rog rhymes with hog, and they both have a squiggly tail at the end.” TA-EYE-VA-AEE (if you know, you know) The lives touched by Mrs. True has made this world a better place.

  4. Mrs. True was such a sweet lady! I remember her reading her book to us in elementary school. Luckily I found a copy to purchase. I’m so sorry for the family. She touched many hearts and left positive memories. ❤️

  5. I was fortunate enough to know Mrs. True my entire life. She and Buck were fixtures of my Sunday mornings at Crim Memorial and then, when I reached middle school age, she was my teacher. I can still hear her voice and see her smile. She inspired my love of books and writing and encouraged me to be a teacher. I’ve always tried to remember how kind she was to everyone in her class and model
My behavior after that. Barbour County Schools was blessed to have had her in the classroom for so long. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on in the many students she taught.

  7. In my first Education class at AB, we were assigned to observe a teacher. Pat was the assignment that I received. She was teaching at the old Jr High where Walgreens is. I could not imagine how one could ever be so enthusiastic doing a spelling lesson…. But she was and very much so at that! I was blessed to have been assigned to teach with Pat on the first team that I taught with at Philippi Elementary School. I learned so much teaching with her. Her way of teaching was wonderful… She taught to the need of every child. She loved every child… and she cared that they learned to the best of their abilities…. and she was always so very fair. She was not only a teaching mentor, but she was a friend. She and Buck attended our wedding in Pittsburgh. My daughter grew up calling her Aunt Pat. I will miss her immensely. She was a true friend. I have so many memories to remember and to treasure. My heart goes out to Bob, Kathy and family. Candace’s boys loved their GG. and so did I.

  8. Dear Bobbie and family,
We are sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. Her kind and gentle ways will always be remembered by us. Your whole family always come to mind, when we travel through the area!

  9. My deepest sympathies to Mrs. True’s family. She was one of my favorite teachers & inspired me to write stories.

  10. I met Mrs. True in March 2022 while my mother, Oneita Powers, was briefly a resident of Talbott’s Personal Care Home. What a sweet and kind lady she was. I SO enjoyed talking with her. From her stories, she had a full and exciting life. She made a lasting impression on our family. I was so sad to learn of her passing. Condolences to all her family and friends.
