Kirk Douglas "Doug" Newman

Kirk Douglas “Doug” Newman, age 62, a resident of Philippi, passed away Saturday August 31, 2024, in the Emergency Department of Broaddus Hospital. Doug was born July 30, 1962, in Philippi a son of the late Henry Dewayne Newman and Eileen Mayle. Doug worked as a salesman for Advance Auto and worked at Standard Laboratories. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding his side by side and motorcycles. Doug is survived by sons Shawn Newman, Joshua Newman and companion Roxie Campbell; seven grandchildren; sisters Darlene Newman and Mary Miller; brothers Leroy Newman and Frankie Newman, wife Ursula; uncle Kenny Newman; aunts Della Mayle and Sharon Humphreys; several nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by father Henry Newman; step father Carney “Studbolt” Mayle, mother Eileen Mayle; half-sister Alisa Gearhart. Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday September 4, from 10 am- 8 pm, and on Thursday September 5, from 10 am- 12 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm with Pastor Howard Swick officiating. Interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery.
