  1. Gary and I have been neighbors for such a long time and he never failed to tell me when he saw that he loved my place across the river from him. A while back he brought me the Simpson Store sign because I told him how much I liked stopping there at the store all those years ago and we shared a love of history. I was privileged to be shown his large collection of pictures for the Village of Boulder and the people that he grew up around. When I was going through chemotherapy, he would call and ask what he could do for me. He offered to mow my grass and get groceries for me, along with all my other wonderful neighbors in the community. I was so blessed to have him as a friend and I will miss him greatly. My condolences to his children and grandchildren…

  2. I’m shocked to hear that Gary passed away. He was a good friend and neighbor who is going to be missed greatly.

  3. I am so sorry to hear of this sad news. Gary was a former co-worker, and a very nice person. Always smiling. Prayers for his family.

  4. I worked for many, many years with Gary at the FBI CJIS Division from its early days in the Clarksburg Federal building Uptown, to the new building on Jerry Dove once constructed. So shocked to hear he has passed away. Condolences to his family on his loss.

  5. Omg ! Gary , I’m so shocked to hear about your passing, my dear fried! You were such a great person & friend! I’ll miss you, dearly! 😭You were so much fun & you loved the sun ! ❤️It’s hard to believe you’re gone! Rest in peace!

  6. My sincere condolences to the family of Gary Shafer. Gary was a dear friend and co-worker who was hired with the FBI by his boss Roger Swanson when the FBI moved to WV. He was a great guy and will be missed by all that knew him! So sorry for your loss!

  7. I was shocked saddened to hear of Gary’s passing. I worked with him for a number of years at Fairmont Supply in the late 70’s and 80’s. He was a good guy and a friend. My condolences to his family.

  8. I first became acquainted with Gary when we were both students at Fairmont State College, and played softball and basketball on the same intramural team. I found him then and always to be friendly and
congenial. I am sincerely sorry to hear of his passing. May God grant him rest. May God grant comfort to all who are touched by Gary’s passing.

  9. We are so sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. Gary was my husbands (Mike) cousin. We would visit him whenever we came through the area. We loved his parents and will miss him.

  10. I am so sorry to hear that Gary passed. Gary stayed with our family while attending Clarksburg Business College. I viewed him more as a big brother than just a cousin. I visited him last year when we had a memorial for my brother, Jeff. He showed Jeff’s daughter the church where Grandpa taught Sunday school. Gary, Aunt Alda and Uncle Dick will always have a special place in my heart.
