Roger Lee Holbert

Roger Lee Holbert, age 75, a resident of Mt. Liberty Community, passed away Monday June 30, 2025 in the Emergency Department of Broaddus Hospital. Roger was born October 25, 1949 in Philippi a son of Milford Eugene and Edna Pearl (Shingleton) Holbert. Roger was united in marriage on March 11, 1971 to Patricia Jean Holbert who survives at home. Roger proudly served in the US Army. Roger worked for Southern States in Philippi for 35 years until his retirement, he served positions as truck driver and propane supervisor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Roger collected, traded and sold various guns. He loved spending time with his family. Roger was a member of the Barbour Church of Christ. Roger is survived by his loving wife Patricia; children Theresa Roy and husband Jeff, Michael Holbert and wife Holly; grandchildren Jaden and Maya Bender, Benjamin, Caleb, and Macy Holbert; siblings Sharon Carr and husband Roy, Ronnie Holbert and wife Doretta. Family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday July 3, from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm with Speaker Danny Wagner officiating. Interment will take place in the WV National Cemetery in Grafton on Monday July 7 at 10am for those wishing to attend may meet at 9 am at Wright Funeral Home to proceed with the family to the cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the US Army and American Legion Post #96 of Belington.

  5. roger was a true gentleman. he always said hello he always smiled when he saw you. he was a kind and considerate man. the world has lost a good person. i am sending my condolences to the pat to teresa to michael and ronnie and sharon. and the entire famly. roger was one of a kind and he will truly be remembered by all who knew him and those he served in his work life. his was a life well lived.

  6. I’m So Sorry to hear of Rogers passing, I Can Remember Roger and Ronnie back in the Early 60s at the old Mount Liberty Church ! Always So Kind and his words were like Silk! Glad to of had Roger as My Facebook Friend years later! O My the Biggest Reward in his life and the Biggest Reunion going on now in Heaven with all who went on earlier! God Bless His Family during this most difficult time ! But Know this is not the End ! But a Time apart ! And our Reward will be in the Hands of our Lord God and with Roger and all the Rest not for a day or year but We will be all together for Ever in Paradise! God Bless You all !
