Daretha Reynolds

Daretha Reynolds, age 54, a resident of Moatsville, passed away Sunday July 27, 2025 in United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. Daretha was born June 7, 1971 in Philippi a daughter of Gary Mayle and Dora Reynolds. Daretha enjoyed clipping coupons, cooking and watching NCIS. She would often play candy crush in the morning while enjoying her coffee. Daretha enjoyed spending time with her friends which would often times lead to a lot of dancing. She loved her son more than anything in this world. Daretha had the largest and kindest heart. She was always welcoming anyone in her home to cook for them or just pass the time. Daretha was always checking on her family and others, especially her brother, just to see what he was doing. Surviving is her father Gary Mayle; son Chance Reynolds; siblings Gary “Cakie” Reynolds and wife Misty, Crystal Cooper Trice, Gary “Bub” Mayle and companion Angie Hodge, Tina Cooper, and Raymond Cooper and wife Zonia; several nieces and nephews whom she spoiled and loved. Daretha was preceded in death by her mother Dora Reynolds; sister Aretha Reynolds. Family will receive friends at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday July 31, from 4-8 pm, and Friday August 1, from 9am- 1pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jacob Smithmyer and Mr. Bill Berdine officiating. Interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery.
