James Wendall Rector

James Wendall Rector, age 80, a resident of Philippi, passed away unexpectedly Friday August 29, 2025, at his home. James was born September 6, 1944, in Marion, Illinois, a son of William Herman and Helen Marie (Bundren) Rector. James was united in marriage to his loving wife Joyce Ann (Moore) Rector. James served our country serving in the US Army. He was an avid farmer. James worked with his brother at Rector Cabinet Shop, woodworking and making cabinets. James loved working with his hands and enjoyed working on cars. He recently built a coupe and rat rod. He was a member of the Bigelow Lodge #52 AF & AM. Surviving is his wife Joyce Rector, children Daniel Rector and companion Melissa Bokey, Angela Burner and husband Chad; grandchildren Tiffany Rector, Shelby Bennett, Jonathan Bennett, Allison Bennett, Trevor Burner, and Emilee Burner; six great grandchildren; siblings Carl Rector and wife Linda, Rick Rector and wife Betty, Rosemary Brooks and late husband Ron; several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents William and Helen Rector; grandson Daniel Rector; siblings Jerry, William and Jeff Rector. In honor of James request, no services will be scheduled.
