Betty Helen (Bowmar) Poe, age 94, a resident of Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital, passed away on Friday August 9, 2019 after a period of declining health. Betty was born April 12, 1925 in Taylor County, WV a daughter of the late Christopher Marshall and Ruth Olive (Fisher) Bowmar. Betty was united in marriage on October 1, 1945 to Clarence Lee Poe who preceded her in death on February 17, 2000. Surviving is three children

Sister, Lydia McDaniel of Erie, PA
Betty was preceded in death by brother, Charles M. Bowmar, sisters, Lois Battison and Mary Lou Knotts.
Betty was a homemaker and in earlier years had worked as a clerk for Southern States in Philippi.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday August 12, from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday August 13, from 8 am – 3 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Preston County.

I remember going to down the grade to visit Betty as a young girl. She was always very kind and smiling when we visited. I saw her again many years later at a relative’s funeral in Philippi and was surprised she recognized and remembered me. She was so caring that day. So very sorry for your loss.
