Betty Margaret Irvine, daughter of the late Sterlie W. Stemple and Gretchen (Bennett) Stemple, departed this life on April 5, 2024 at 5:55 p.m. at Ruby Memorial Hospital in the presence of her cherished son and daughter-in-law.
Betty was born October 20, 1937 in Belington, WV and on June 23, 1958 married Cornelius D. “Neil” Irvine to whom she was married for sixty-three years. Together they shared one son, Chris Irvine who was the joy of their life.
Betty and Neil spent several years traveling for the military before returning to Philippi to establish their permanent home. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed both football and basketball and as of late became an avid supporter of the Boston Celtics. Betty’s strength and warmth influenced so many lives that she became affectionately known to many as “Aunt Beck.” She was a member of the Philippi United Methodist Church and a woman of great integrity, kindness, and faith who will be profoundly missed. In honor of Betty’s request, cremation will be honored and a special Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 20, 2024 at the Philippi United Methodist Church. A private inurnment will be held at the Mount Olive Cemetery at a later date.

Chris and Jean Ellen, we are so sad to hear of Betty’s passing. She was truly a very sweet lady. Her smile and kind words will never be forgotten. We are here for you if you need anything. Love and prayers to you both. May God comfort you always. 🙏
This world lost a beautiful woman. “Becky” was my Mom’s best friend (Sharon Booth Jones) and I heard they were alittle on the rowdy side when they were together! They can now reunite.
May God comfort you during these difficult days ahead.

Chris and Jean Ellen so sorry for your loss.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
Betty was a very special lady Every time I saw her she would always talk to me. I can remember when I would get on the school bus and off the bus right below your our house if she was in the yard or on the porch we would always say hi to each other. She will be missed.
