Billie Ann (Smith) Daugherty, age 73, went home to be with Jesus on April 23, 2023 after a period of declining health. She was born on December 13, 1949 in Clarksburg, WV a daughter of the late Roy and Emogene Gay (Boggs) Smith.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson, Shawn David Huffman (infant); sister Debra Vitale.
Billie worked in many occupations throughout her life and lended a helping hand to many along the way. She resided in Canterberry Place in Elkins, WV surrounded by many lovely friends and neighbors.
Billie enjoyed decorating, working in her flower bed, spending time on the farm with her companion Johnny Stewart. Drinking coffee on the porch with her friends and neighbors. She was a loving and dedicated mother grandmother and friend. She took the most pride in her children and grandchildren, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her two children, Anita Herron and companion Curt Hall, John Daugherty, Jr. and companion Tara Marnell; the father of her children and long time friend John Daugherty, Sr.; six grandchildren, Chris Huffman and wife Katelyn, Lindsay Herron and companion Hunter McCourt, Gabe Guire, Katie Daugherty, John Daugherty III and Chase Buffington; one great grandchild, Greer Huffman; three brothers, Donnie Scott and wife Linda, Richard Scott and wife Mary, Bobbie Smith and wife Rhonda; sister Sheila Yates and other extended family who loved her. Also two of her longest and closest friends Carolyn Kerns and Joyce Shimbo and other extended family who loved her.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday April 27, from 5-8 pm and on Friday April 28, from 12- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Speaker Lloyd Shockey officiating. Interment will follow in the Pitman Cemetery.

I’m so sorry to hear of Billie’s passing, She was such a lovely lady. I met Billy through my sister who was a very good friend of hers and they both resided at Canterbury. She always had a nice word and a beautiful smile. She loved all the children there. She was so kind to my two grandchildren giving them candy and popsicles every time she’ seen them outside.
