Brenda Linger, 76, of Philippi, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at United Hospital Center with her loving children by her side.
Brenda was born May 22, 1949, in Philippi to the late Carolyn Joann Dadisman. Brenda was a lifelong Methodist whose gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone she met. She worked for many years at the Barbour Department Store and later at Broaddus Hospital, where her kindness and steady care were appreciated by colleagues and patients alike.
Brenda’s greatest joy came from her family and the simple pleasures of everyday life. She loved sewing and needlepoint, tending her flowers, watching Hallmark movies, and traveling—especially with her son for tennis matches and band events. She also traveled with her son to New York. She also found fulfillment in helping care for elderly friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Kelli Robinson and husband Steve; son Ryan Linger and partner Scott; her beloved granddogs Cooper and Darla; brother Tommy Dadisman and wife Tandra; sisters-in-law Betty Gainer and Donna Wilson with husband Jonathan; nieces Sarah King and Brandi Simmons; nephews Grant Dadisman, Rodney Gainer, and Wesley Hershman; six great-nieces; and cousin Kathy Price and husband Rodney.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Linger; mother Carolyn Joann Dadisman; grandmother Ellen D. Dadisman; aunts Annabelle Heimaster, Charlotte Miller, Jeanie Koontz, Nancy Athey, and Barbara Harris; and sister and brother-in-law Jerry and Janet Hershman.
