Christine Jones

Christine Lubanna Jones age 86 a resident of Mansfield Place Philippi and lived in Independence Community most of her life, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009. She was born October 2, 1922 in Barbour County a daughter of the late Arley R. and Garnet E. (Hudkins) Burner. She was united in marriage March 24, 1942 to Jess Bruce Jones who preceded in death May 30, 1989. Surviving is: five sons: Roger and the late Sharon Jones Richard and wife Gayle Jones both of Philippi Terry and wife Suzie Jones of Huntington Don and wife Stephanie Jones of Mt. Clare, WV Pat and wife Susan Jones of Philippi Five Sisters: Agnes England of Belington Beverly Poe Jacky Malcolm Judy Burner all of Philippi Carol Allen of Fayetteville, TN 12 Grandchildren: Scott Jones,Robert and wife Kris Jones, Denise Jones, Michelle and husband Richard McElwain, Derek Jones, Chase and wife Alana Jones, and Allison Jones, Dustin Jones and fiancé Danielle, Gavin and wife Jenna Jones, Caitlin Jones, Jessica and Brandon Jones. Several great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by one grandson Greg Jones, seven brothers; Russell, Gail, Don, Arley Jr., Richard, Brooks, David Burner, one sister Kathleen Burner. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker, she had been active in PTA, Philip Barbour Athletic Boosters, and a poll worker. She was a graduate of Philippi High School, a life-long member of the Independence Church of Christ and attended Crim Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jones joy in life was the love of her children and their families. The fellowship in church and community activities were all special to her. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi, WV on Sunday April 5, from 4-8:00 p.m. and on Monday April 6, from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. the service hour with Rev. Alicia Rapking officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
