Our Mom was a Christian and relied on her faith throughout the years to see her through many difficult times. Her greatest joy was her family and she enjoyed large family holidays and dinners. She was very active in church functions including the church ladies groups, Bible school, teaching Sunday school classes and singing in the choir with her beautiful alto voice. She was a member of the Tacy CEOs, Barbour County CEOs, Tacy Senior Center, life-time member of the Kasson PTA, Barbour County Retirement Association, PWP, Barbour County Association of Non-Teaching Personnel, 4-H leader, and band boosters. Our Mom enjoyed camping, travelling, going to the beach, attending the Barbour County Fair, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She was known for planning charter bus trips to Branson, MO, Amish country, and various other places. She attended Kasson Grade and High School and in later years, she returned to school and obtained her GED. She retired in November 1994 from the Barbour County Board of Education after working 22 years. As her health failed in later years, she missed being out and about with her family, church family and friends. In memory of our Mom, the family would ask that we go back to the old days of visiting each other, sending cards, and calling to check in. We would also like to thank the staff at Mountain Memories Assisted Living, Elkins and Mountain Living Community, Belington for the kind, loving, compassionate care. So many of you became her second family. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and onsite Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 2pm- 8pm and Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 9am- 1pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with speaker Brad Dumire and speaker Jeff Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow in the Tacy Crossroads Cemetery.

  9. We have so many wonderful memories of Jean – at church, family gatherings, her yard sales, and as our neighbor. We miss those front porch visits with her, when life seemed to slow down long enough to enjoy good company and good conversation. Jean was a fine Christian woman. She will be missed but not forgotten. Our condolences to all of her family members. Love, Ed & Sharon.
