Deborah Kay Anderson, age 60, of Philippi, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.

She was born on February 7, 1965, in Canton, Ohio, a daughter of Delmer “Bill” Stemple, who preceded her in death, and Rebecca Ann (Budick) Stemple, who survives.

 

Deborah is survived by her loving companion of 21 years, Rick Hathaway; her mother, Rebecca Ann Stemple; her sister, Kimberly Stemple; stepdaughter Trista Dalton and husband TJ; and her cherished grandchildren Rickie Hathaway, Rodney Hathaway, Shaylee Hathaway, Hayden Dalton, and Jase Dalton, Quentin Hathaway.

 

She is also survived by her nephew Tyler Walker and his wife Jessica, and their children, her great-nephew and great-niece, Anson Walker and Leighton Walker. Additional surviving family includes her aunts Nellie Fitzwater and companion Joe, Linda Holbert and husband Eddie. She was preceded in death by aunts Juanita Dvorovy and Penny Shrewsberry, and Uncle Charles “Bud” Wilson.

 

Deborah lived a life full of energy, kindness, and generosity. She enjoyed traveling with “the girls,” riding her motorcycle with Rick, making crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She cared deeply for the environment and worked for HDRF, always encouraged by efforts to keep her community clean.

 

She worked for Foster Wheeler, traveling across the United States and serving at various power plants. Known for her strong work ethic and giving heart, Deborah was always willing to volunteer her time to help others.

 

Family and friends will gather at Wright Funeral Home, 220 N. Walnut St., Philippi, on Wednesday, December 3, from 4–8 p.m., and on Thursday, December 4, from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Howard Swick officiating. Interment will take place at Clemtown Cemetery.
