Deloris Ruth Lambert, age 78, a resident of Belington, passed away Sunday September 14, 2025, in Mon General Hospital. Deloris was born May 24, 1947, in Philippi, a daughter of Dorsey and Vivian (McQuain) Bennett.

Deloris worked as paramedic for Barbour County EMS and retired from Barbour County Schools as a cook at Philippi Middle School. She was a member of the Rebeka Lodge in Belington.

Deloris loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting.  She was an avid softball player and coached.  Deloris enjoyed bowling and loved watching her Mountaineers Play.  In her later years Deloris enjoyed traveling, to the beach and to Germany.  Deloris was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

Surviving is children John Bennett, Deborah Cooper and husband Terry, Emilie Smith and husband Eugene; grandchildren Alan, Melanie, and Matthew Bennett, Joshua Elliott, Samantha Underwood, Amber and Terry Cooper, and Cody Smith; great grandchildren Ashton Storey, and Alexandria Underwood; siblings Beulah Bartlett, Gloria Isner, Donald Bennett, Donna Harris, and Roger Bennett; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents Dorsey and Vivian Bennett; siblings Dorsey Lynn Bennett, Delbert Bennett, and Ruby King Johnson.

Family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday September 19, from 1- 3:30 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Brian Beveridge officiating.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.wrightfuneralhomeservices.com

    Emily prayers to you and the family. Delores was one of a kind we had our laughter and I never forget it. She would also tell them what she thought, that’s what made her special with me. She always gave them hell.

  3. I remember as a child being on Philip Barbour High School property playing softball with the entire Bennett family. Those are memories that always make me smile. Rest in peace Aunt Deloris.
