Dorothy Hoffman, 76, of Moatsville, WV, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Dorothy was born September 4, 1949, in Grafton, WV, the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Phillips) Wolfe. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Frank James Hoffman, on August 16, 1967. They shared 53 years together until his passing on January 3, 2021.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Dorothy’s life centered around caring for her family and anyone who walked through her door. She was an exceptional cook who believed no visitor should ever leave hungry — and if they did, as she would say, “that was on you.” She loved hosting company, gardening, camping, and simply spending time with those she cherished. Her heart of gold touched many, and she generously shared her warmth, kindness, and meals with all.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Tammy Marsh and husband Quentin, and Frank Hoffman Jr.
She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jessica Taylor; Logan Bickel and wife Madeline; Mattilea Marsh; and Lexy Marsh; and great-grandchildren Emma Taylor, Bently Taylor, Gage Taylor, Milton Scott IV, and one precious unborn great-grandchild.
She is also survived by her sisters Sue Bowman (and her late husband Donald) and Linda Myers; her brother Alfred Wolfe (and late wife Esther); as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Dorothy is also mourned by her two lifelong friends, Bille Boehm and Kathy Younts.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters and her brother, Larry Wolfe.
Friends may gather at Wright Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory, 220 N. Walnut St., Philippi, on Tuesday, December 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, where Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband.
