Dorothy Poling-Spencer

Dorothy Faye Poling-Spencer age 80 a resident of Salt Lick Rd. Belington passed away Wednesday July 30, 2014 at her residence under the care of Mountain Hospice. Dorothy was born December 15, 1933 in Belington a daughter of the late Arnet B. and Maysell B. (Phillips) Simon. Dorothy was twice married, first on September 22, 1951 to Marshall L. Poling who preceded Dorothy in death January 3, 2000; secondly on May 11, 2006 to Delbert Spencer who survives. Also surviving, One daughter, Jayme Phillips and husband Rickey of Meadowville, WV Two sisters, Carol Rogers and husband Joe Sylvia Autry, both of Deerfield, Ohio One son-in-law, Robert L. Mitchell, II Two grandsons, Jayson Mitchell and Justin Mitchell Dorothy was preceded in death by one daughter, Marsha Faye (Poling) Mitchell Dorothy was the past president of Marshall Poling Trucking Dorothy served 15 years on the Board of Directors of Freedom Bank of Belington Dorothy was a graduate of Belington High School with the class of 1952, and also a graduate of the University of Hard Knocks. Dorothy raised and bred Belgian and Quarter horses and participated in various shows in West Virginia and surrounding states. Dorothy supported the needs of Barbour County citizens and its youth through numerous community organizations. Dorothy contributed to higher education and athletic activities at West Virginia University, Alderson-Broaddus College and the youth of Barbour County. Dorothy was a member of Central Chapel United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 4-8 pm and on Sunday, August 3, from 9 am-2 pm the service hour with Pastor Rick Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery. Sunday August 3, 2014, 2 pm at Wright Funeral Home Click for Map and Directions
