Edward Phillip Sullivan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eddie Phillip Sullivan, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, who departed this world on July 2, 2024, at the age of 21. Eddie was born on August 10, 2002, in Morgantown, West Virginia to Jeffrey and Maranda Sullivan. From an early age, he exhibited a natural curiosity and zest for life that would define his years. His early years were marked by his adventure of scouting starting out in cub scouts working his way all the way to Eagle Scout following in his brothers’ footsteps and also fondly being known as “accident pro”. He graduated from Philip Barbour High School in 2020 as his classmates and loved ones often noted that he could make anyone laugh as the class clown. In 2021, Eddie married his high school sweetheart, Lexie, with whom he shared 3 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, warmth, and the joyous noise of their three children: Alaia, Millie, and the soon to be born Lincoln. Eddie was a dedicated and caring father, always putting his family first and ensuring that his children grew up knowing the importance of love, faith, hard work, and kindness. Eddie spent over a year working at Pruntytown Correctional Facility as a correctional officer where he was known for viewing his role with the upmost respect and integrity. Most recently, he has spent 2 years at Bailey Mine in Windridge, Pennsylvania. He always noted that he loved his job working alongside Mikael and Austin affectionately referred to as the “three amigos”. He loved this position as he aspired to work in the coal mines as young as grade school when he wrote in his end of year notebook that he wished to be a coal miner just like his older brother, Josh Sullivan. His colleagues remember him by all of his nicknames including Sully, Coaldawg, and Aflec as he was able to make an impact on all of those that worked alongside him. Outside of his professional life, Eddie had a passion for dedicating his life to Jesus and spending time with his family in Christ at Peoples Chapel in Philippi, West Virginia. He also loved to spend time with his wife and children at lake creating lifelong memories. He also would do anything in his power to spend time alongside his nephew, JJ Sullivan, riding dirt bikes and supporting his racing journey. Additionally, he valued spending quality time with his friends at the shooting range and telling stories with one another. He also loved spending time fishing, engaging in sports, gaming on his PC system, and spending time with family and loved ones. Eddie’s kindness, generosity, and sense of humor left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. He was a man of great integrity and compassion, always willing to go the extra mile for anyone in need. His infectious smile and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Lexie; his children, Alaia, Millie, and soon to be born son Lincoln. He is survived by his parents Jeffery and Maranda Sullivan. Additionally, he also is survived by his siblings CoraLee Sullivan, Joshua Sullivan and wife Krissy, Ross Sullivan, Donald Sullivan, and special brother Xavier Bragg. In addition, Eddie leaves behind a group of children that he loved as own that he referred to as “bonus children” including JJ, Serenity, and Freya. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Eddie was preceded in death by his brother Jacob Sullivan, grandparents Donald and Goldie Sullivan, and grandpa Bryon E. Bachman. Friends will be received on July 10, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home in Philippi, West Virginia as well as July 11, 2024 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family requests if you worked with Eddie previously to please attend in uniform for that facility. Eddie's legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will continue to inspire all who knew him. He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts. Rest in peace, Eddie. You will be dearly missed.
