Frances Dorine Righman

Frances Dorine Righman, age 87, a resident of Philippi, passed away Friday August 2, 2024 in Broaddus Hospital. Dorine was born March 1, 1937 in Moatsville, a daughter of the late Wilbur “Squib” and Mabel V. (Cline) Moats. Dorine was united in marriage on October 21, 1961 to Eugene Righman who survives at home. Dorine was a member of the Kasson Church, where she was very active in the Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the Philippi Chapter #41 Order of Eastern Star. Dorine was very active she enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, quilting, tending to her garden and canning various items from her garden. She also enjoyed weaving rugs, the proceeds that were raised was giving to the Kasson Ruritan. Dorine loved her great-grandchildren, she would always attend their ball games. Dorine is survived by her husband Eugene; daughter Vickie Thomas and husband RG; grandchildren Ritchie Thomas and wife Tosha, Heather Plum and husband Larry; great grandchildren Lane Thomas, Rylnn and Karli Plum; siblings Kenneth Moats and wife Linda, Eileen McGee and husband Terry, Wilda Jean Hollen, Thomas Moats and wife Carolyn, Betty Jo Anderson and husband Jim; sisters-in-law Betty Moats and Sharon Moats; and several nieces and nephews. Dorine was preceded in death by brothers Raymond and Roger Moats. Family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Sunday August 4, from 4-8 pm and on Monday August 5, from 9-11am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with Speaker Brad Dumire officiating. Interment will follow in the Nestorville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dorine’s Memory to Nestorville Community Center or Nestorville Cemetery c/o Nancy Righman 512 Creek Rd. Moatsville, WV 26405.

  1. She was not only an Aunt to me. She was another mother. I soent 2 weeks a summer with her. We did all of the things together during those visits. Rest easy Aunt D. Love always, your Bubba Teresa ❤️

  2. I am so sorry to learn of Dorine’s passing. I was honored to get to know her on our motorcoach trips. She was such a sweet lady and I enjoyed visiting with her on our trips. My sincere sympathy to her family.
