Gene A. Pitzer

Gene A. Pitzer, age 84, a resident of Moatsville, passed away Tuesday July 15, 2025 at his residence. Gene was born February 23, 1941 in Barbour County a son of Earl B. and Pauline S. (Strawderman) Pitzer. Gene was united in marriage to his wife of 27 years Joan Marie (Kowalski) Pitzer who preceded him in death October 12, 2023. Gene worked for Chrysler Corporation as a spot welder. He was a member of the NRA. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trap shooting. He often would take walks in the woods to enjoy all of the good Lord’s creation. Surviving are children Jerry Pitzer and his wife Amy, Joanne Williard and her husband Bob. Siblings Lowell (Sue) Pitzer, Noretta Frey, Sandra ( Cecil) Simpson, Karen (Marvin) Whaley. grandchildren Kelli ( Mtume) Jackson, Chris Pitzer, Lydia Phillips and Mari Pitzer and many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Pauline Pitzer; wife Joan Pitzer; Brother in law, John Thomas Frey; siblings Paul Pitzer, David Pitzer, and Shelia McVicker. Family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday July 21, from 12- 3 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Morris Cemetery.
