Gleda Darlene Stalnaker

July 17, 1955 ~ July 19, 2025

Gleda Darlene Stalnaker, age 70, a resident of Philippi passed away Saturday July 19, 2025, at the home of her brother. Darlene was born July 17, 1955, in Philippi, a daughter of Winfred W. and Gleta Nadine (Godwin) Stalnaker. Darlene worked for Broaddus Hospital as a Registered Nurse and also held the position of Night Shift Supervisor. She was also a nurse for St. Joseph Hospital in Buckhannon. Darlene was very caring and compassionate. Her generosity knew no bounds. Darlene held strong ties with her family, she considered them the center of her world. She cared for and assisted with her parents as well as her siblings. Darlene attended the Upper Room Church in Clarksburg when health would allow. Darlene received a two year degree from Jimmy Swaggart Bible College with a Pastoral degree. Surviving is brother Donovan C. Stalnaker and wife Sandra; sisters-in-law Susie Stalnaker and Ann Fretwell; nieces and nephews Tammy Williams, Joey Stalnaker and wife Julie, Dan Stalnaker and wife Debbie, Chad Stalnaker, Jacqueline “Jackie” Stalnaker, and Nickolas Stalnaker; several great- nieces and nephews, and a special church friend, Maxine Riddle. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Winfred and Nadine Stalnaker; brother David Stalnaker. Family will receive friends at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday July 21, from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday July 22, from 11 am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Pastor Ann Fretwell officiating. Darlene will be laid to rest by her father at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
